The Paintings of Maxfield Scott

Recently I was able to travel to the city of Santa Fe, New Mexico.  The city and the surrounding areas have a high concentration of artists. Canyon Road, east of the Plaza, has the highest concentration of art galleries in the city, and is a major destination for international collectors, tourists and locals. The Canyon Road galleries showcase a wide array of art. Here I was lucky enough to meet an artist by the name of Maxfield Scott.  His paintings are unique, vibrant and one of a kind. His work focuses on his observations about an intuitive area, which can be found between fiction and non-fiction.
Photographing resin glazed oil paintings is no easy challenge.  You must use all the natural light you can . Use of Flash will leave you with light spots amongst the entire piece of art work.  Not something that an artist wants to see.  So my challenge was to capture this amazing artwork and leave the artist happy.  I think I have done that. Maxfield Scotts' artwork can be viewed and purchased at http://www.popsantafe.com

A Senior Photo Challenge

Welcome back to my blog. I thank you so much for reading and viewing my photos. I invite you to become a follower of my work to keep a breast at my recent works.

Senior Portraits...CARISSA

The photo challenge? To try to duplicate a photo of Carissa 18 yrs later. I received a photo of Carissa at Age 1, which i have included here.

After studying the photo I began the process of preparing for a high key lighting photo shoot.
What would I need to capture the same look that was in a portrait of a young girl 18 years prior. Carissa is a beautiful young woman who arrived with a white slip dress and a strand of white pearls to wear... So Amongst all of the sheer drapes, and white background, I asked her to lay down on her side.. I found a set of white florals amongst my props, which I then asked her to hold. With her posed, the lighting all metered and ready; the photo shoot began. Over and over again my camera shutter snapped. It went so smoothly and easily, for Carissa was a Natural in front of the lens. Her smile radiated in front of me. I knew I had the photo I needed so we continued on with her Senior Portraits.. Her mother has since seen the final photo and has shared it with Carissa's father. When they compared it to her baby photo they both started Crying.... for their baby girl has now blossomed into a gorgeous young lady. The photo shoot was A success in my eyes. The final photo is here for you to view. I hope you enjoy it as well.

I would appreciate any comments, as well as hoping that a few of you would become followers of my work. Do you have a challenge for me? Why not give me a call.
